After the Women’s First Team beat Milan 1-0 in Biella to end a perfect Serie A Women's Cup group stage, coach Isaac Guerrero and captain Martina Rosucci spoke.

“We went onto the pitch with the objective of winning the match. Milan are a team that do things well and hold a very high line, so we’ve got to learn how to manage these situations with our football. At times we did that well, while other moments will help us improve.
“I’m very happy with the girls’ attitude: we weren’t thinking about the semi-final, we were thinking about winning the match, and we achieved our objective.
“The girls are extremely competitive. We saw that even when we went down to ten players: they managed that well and I think we had more chances to kill the game off than Milan did. We showed that we know how to win these kinds of matches as well.
“It’s been a progressive journey because we had to start competing very early for important objectives. Having the Women’s Cup and the Champions League qualifiers straight away helped accelerate the process, even though everything was new and we didn’t know each other well at the beginning. Now the girls have become a team, and that’s entirely to their credit. They’ve managed to win through their own football and pursue our objective of being protagonists in every match.
“After almost 60 days of intense work since 5 July, this team have grown a lot. They know how they want to play and want to be in control. We’ve shown that in important matches, qualifying for the Women’s Cup semi-final and the Champions League, which was a primary objective for us. What matters most is the girls’ willingness and courage, and the fact that we’ve built a very serious team.
“As for Ana [Capeta], we haven’t yet had the opportunity to properly understand the situation. That’s the first thing we’ll do. Ana is a player we’re very fond of and she’s very important to the team, beyond the goals, because of all the work she does every day. We wish her the best and hope the news isn’t too bad.”
MARTINA ROSUCCI
“We’ve changed a lot of things this year and immediately had some very important competitive fixtures. We’re coming off qualification for the Champions League, which was hugely important for us and the club, and this week we had another objective: reaching the semi-final [of the Serie A Women’s Cup]. We play to win every trophy. Today was a very difficult match, but we’re happy to have achieved our objective.
“Juventus’ objective is always the same: to win, and we can’t hide from that. A lot has changed, there are a lot of new players and we’re a young team, so it’ll take time. We’d also like to enjoy ourselves and create an identity, and that’s an objective that’s just as important as winning.
“I think the Italian core is one of Juventus’ strengths, although there are also many very strong foreign players who add value. A team like Juve needs to have an identity, and I’m very happy about that. It makes me proud and shows that we’re also working with an eye on the future.”
