Coach Thiago Motta, Federico Gatti, Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz spoke to the press after Juventus’ 1-0 win against Cagliari on Matchday 26 of the Serie A season.
THIAGO MOTTA
“The result is always the most important thing but I am also satisfied with the performance, especially in the first half when we played good football, creating many chances. The flaw was not putting the game to bed, and when that doesn't happen, against teams like Cagliari, who are well organised, you risk causing problems for yourself. There was probably also a bit of tiredness from Wednesday: on the positive side, in the second half we were able to come under pressure without conceding almost any chances, even if we weren't as dominant as we were at the start of the game. We must continue to work on transitions and on condeding as few free-kicks as possible to the opponent, who were able to progress up the pitch with relatively few touches of the ball: we must also have an effective game plan in the final third. [Andrea] Cambiaso has some adductor fatigue, but his ankle is better. With Douglas [Luiz] we decided together, we risked him because he has no injuries. He didn't finish the game, it's a pity, because he's a guy who wants to do well.”
FEDERICO GATTI
“It was very important to react well, it is a difficult place to come and it was important to win. We have to manage moments of difficulty and advantage better, but it was important to win nonetheless. The league is tight, the objective is to do the best we can and we'll see where we end up at the end. The Champions League is an important goal, but the league table is close. We'll see. A united group? Absolutely, we can't shy away. We were beaten badly in Eindhoven, the objective was to progress, but everything must serve as a lesson, it was important to respond immediately, we must do our best in every match.”
DUSAN VLAHOVIC
“The three points are important, I scored a goal, but it's important to have won. The celebration? I've done it before, while basketball was a dedication to the physiotherapists, we have one thing in common, they asked me to cheer like that. I'm living with great calmness, I'm a professional, I make myself available to the team: I know that so much is expected of me. I stay composed. If we want to grow as a team and reach certain goals, we can't stay under pressure for the whole second half. Everyone suffers here against a team that plays well at home, but we have to take the extra step. Manage the game better or put it to bed earlier. I am very happy and I am thinking about the next match.”
KENAN YILDIZ
“Today I should have scored, I always try to score, both for my team and also for myself. Today I had two chances, I didn't convert them, hopefully I will take the next one.”
