Juventus' squad is bolstered by a talented new addition.
Nicolas Ivan Gonzalez, better known as Nico Gonzalez, is officially a Juventus player.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder arrives at Juventus from Fiorentina and has signed a contract that will now see him play in black and white.
Born in 1998 in Belen de Escobar, a city in the province of Buenos Aires, Gonzalez started his footballing journey in Argentina before making the big leap to Europe in the summer of 2018. Gonzalez signed for Stuttgart in July 2018, following a long spell at Argentinos Juniors, where he had worked his way up through the youth ranks to the first team.
He made 79 appearances across three seasons in Germany, proving to be a valuable player in terms of goals: by the end of his time at Stuttgart he had scored 23 goals and provided 10 assists. These numbers were backed up by high-level performances that saw him earn his first call-up to the senior national team, for whom he made his debut on 13 October 2019, in a friendly against Ecuador.
Having amassed an impressive resume, he then moved to Fiorentina, for whom he also played for three years and proved to be even more impressive than his stint in Germany, with his statistics whilst at La Viola demonstrating just that: 125 matches played, 38 goals and 19 assists, thus directly contributing to more than 50 goals.
His development has been constant over the course of recent seasons, to the extent that he has been noticed by the Argentina coach, Lionel Scaloni, who also called him up for this year's victorious Copa America campaign, selecting him in five out of six games, two of which as a starter.
Now he is ready to embark on this new challenge in black and white.
