Juventus celebrated their 129th birthday in the best possible way: with a win. The Bianconeri beat Napoli 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium in their Serie A Matchday 10 encounter.
THE MATCH REPORT
The game got off to a high-tempo start. In the seventh minute, Vicario showed excellent reflexes to deny Lucca's effort on the turn and keep the visitors at bay. As the minutes passed, Juventus began to find their rhythm going forward and, in the 27th minute, Juan Cabal rose highest to meet a Douglas Luiz corner, only to see his powerful header strike the post. Three minutes later, Spalletti's side came close to breaking the deadlock again following a fine team move: Kolo Muani burst past his marker down the flank and delivered an inviting cross for Alajbegovic, who connected with a first-time volley but sent his effort over the crossbar. Just before the break, Alajbegovic had another opportunity to put the Bianconeri ahead, but Meret managed to parry his left-footed strike away. The first half ended goalless at the Allianz Stadium.
After a closely contested start to the second half, the breakthrough finally came in the 70th minute. Zhegrova produced a moment of brilliance, beating Rrahmani with a superb piece of skill before finding Alajbegovic. The young talent took matters into his own hands, cutting inside and unleashing a powerful shot beyond Meret's reach to send the Allianz Stadium into raptures and give Juventus the lead. Things went from bad to worse for Napoli five minutes later when Marianucci, already on a yellow card, fouled Cabal and was shown a second yellow, followed by a red card. Juventus continued to push forward and doubled their advantage in the 87th minute. A flowing team move saw the ball worked out to Boga on the left, who cut inside onto his right foot and curled his effort into the far corner, leaving Meret beaten.
Alajbegovic and Boga sealed the victory as Juventus marked their 129th birthday with three points.
