The Women’s First Team booked their place in the League Phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday evening, with a 1-1 draw at home to St. Polten sealing a 4-1 aggregate win.
Tatiana Pinto got the first goal of the evening in Biella, and put the Bianconere in a very comfortable position to advance, meaning that Alma Aagaard’s equaliser was no more than a consolation for the visitors in the overall picture of the tie as a whole.
THE MATCH REPORT
The Bianconere were well on top in the opening stages in Biella, dominating the ball as has become habitual under Isaac Guerrero this season. It was Alba Redondo who looked to threaten first, forcing a good save from Carina Schluter after two minutes.
Lea Khelifi, Redondo and Tatiana Pinto all looked to extent their aggregate lead, but the Bianconere’s first-half pressure was struggling to produce a fourth goal of the tie.
It did come through Pinto though, with Remina Chiba teeing up the Portuguese just five minutes before half-time.
Khelifi and Redondo both passed up chances to extend the lead to five goals, and St. Polten pulled a goal back to level things up on the night through Aagaard, who capitalised on a Martina Rosucci error to chip Danielle de Jong.
After that equaliser, the visitors threatened to come alive, but the Bianconere weathered the storm, after De Jong pulled off a fine save to deny Lisa Ebert and Diana Lemesova hit the woodwork.
Regaining control, the Bianconere looked to attack again and second-half substitute Matilde Pavan came close to extending the lead, but Schluter was equal to her efforts twice.
The 1-1 on the night was enough for the Bianconere to return to the League Phase of the Women’s Champions League, and the draw for the competition proper will be held on Friday.
