The Women’s First Team beat St. Polten 3-0 in Austria to take control of their UEFA Women’s Champions League third qualifying round tie.
Tatiana Pinto netted twice for the Bianconere, with Martina Rosucci scoring a brilliant goal from range.
JUVE START STRONGLY
Juventus took control of the match straight away and, as early as the 3rd minute, threatened Crolina Schluter’s goal through Estela Carbonell, who posed a danger inside the penalty area. It was the first sign of a convincing start from the Bianconere, who took a deserved lead in the 8th minute.
Carbonell crossed the ball into the box, Alba Redondo laid it off, and Julia Bartel shot from the edge of the box. The Austrian side made a clearance, but it proved to be an assist for Tatiana Pinto, who did brilliantly to control the ball and slot it home first-time.
Isaac Guerrero’s side continued to control possession and assert their dominance. St. Polten tried to respond in the 24th minute with a long-range effort, which Danielle De Jong dealt with comfortably, but it was Juventus who were dictating the play.
In the 35th minute, Annamaria Serturini tried her luck with a left-footed shot from outside the box, only for it to be deflected. Three minutes later, the second goal arrived, and it was a true masterpiece. Martina Rosucci received the ball well outside the box and unleashed an incredible right-footed strike from distance that nestled into the top corner.
CARBONELL HITS THE POST
Juventus looked dangerous straight away in the second half too. In the 10th minute, Carbonell cut inside and tried a curling right-footed shot. The effort beat Schluter but crashed against the post, denying the Bianconere a third goal.
Juve continued to control the match and, in the 28th minute, created another chance through Redondo, who attempted a header but failed to get it on target. A minute later, St. Polten tried to capitalise on a lapse in concentration by the Bianconere with a long-range effort, but it posed no problem for De Jong.
A THIRD FOR THE BIANCONERE
In the closing stages, Pinto was once again the star of the show. She managed to get her second and Juve’s third with 10 minutes to go, and came close to securing a hat-trick.
The Bianconere can look forward to the second leg of the tie on September 2 in Biella, knowing they have a commanding lead to defend.
